What’s an ansible?
With her book “Rocannon’s World,” Ursula K. Le Guin gave fantasy and science fiction writers a tool that grew the boundaries of ‘credible’ sci-fi adventures. The ansible device is used to communicate across vast distances uninhibited by the constraints of light speed.
Like Asimov’s three rules of robotics, the ansible has been adopted by several writers since becoming something of a staple for SF authors. Ansible has since made its way into other common vernaculars as well as the Oxford English Dictionary.
